A Cool box
for Dads & Grads

For that time of year,
We commemorate someone special.

Materials needed for both boxes:
-Box template from Draggin' Ink ™
-two sheets of 8 2 X 11" heavy cardstock (at least 10 pt.)
-pencil
-cutting mat
-scissors or craft knife
-a scoring tool such as the Dual Tool from Draggin' Ink ™
-glue or doublestick tape
for Dad
-1 strip of paper 1" X 5A
-1/2" wide X  18" long black or brown gros-grain ribbon
for Grad
-one piece of chipboard (like from a cereal box) 5" X 5"
-one tassel (see instructions for Easy Tassels)
-two sheets of 8 2 A X 11" in desired color
-brayer (optional)

Follow the instructions on the template. For the bottom, cut and score on the edges of the slots of the template closest to the middle, for the top cut and score on the edges farthest from the middle. Secure both halves on the inside with a dab of glue or double stick tape.
For Dad
: Fold the strip of paper in half, lengthwise. Snip the ends of the folded paper at a slight angle going back toward the fold. This is the collar. Tie the gros-grain ribbon in the Atie@ of your choice and insert it into the collar, snugging up the collar to the tie. Bow ties are tied like a bow, keeping everything as flat as possible and regular ties are a Abuntline hitch@ (see illustration- it=s not hard). Glue the whole assembly to the box lid. Trim ends of Atie@.

For Grad:
Use one sheet of colored paper as the lid of the box. Cut a square of colored paper 7" X 7"from the second sheet of colored paper. Glue the chipboard in the center and cut out the corners in 1" squares so you end up with four flaps. Spread glue on the underside of the chipboard and fold the flaps of paper around so they are covering the underside of the chipboard. Let glue dry. This is your mortarboard section of the box. Punch a small hole in the center of the mortarboard for the tassel. Glue mortarboard to box top and insert tassel anchoring on inside.
Look to this day, young graduate!
