Easy Mizuhiki Flowers
These flowers can be flat, 3/4 or totally 3-D!
items you will need:
1-3 full strands per flower (your color choice)
3-4" pieces of green Mizuhiki
craft wire, 12" L
floral tape
needle nose pliers
OPTIONAL: beads, pin back
Using a full strand of Miz, grab in your left hand
(lefties use your right) about 4". Wrap the strand around your
forefinger
10-12 times, leaving about 4" unwound. Using the craft wire, run it thru
the wound strands on your finger at the bottom of the loops and tie it off,
tightening as you go. If you’d like to add beads for the center of the flower,
now is the time. Put the bead(s) on the craft wire and move them to the center
of the bound loops. Fold the rest of the long part of the strand in half. Wrap
the craft wire around the straight part of the Mizuhiki. Wrap the
"stem" in floral tape, covering the wire and Mizuhiki.
For the leaves: Using the green sections, fold in half and form the last
3/4" into a leaf shape. Wrap the stem in floral tape adding in the leaves
as you go. Add a pin back if desired. Pinch blossom petals for different looks.
Using this basic technique make traditional blooms or more fanciful flowers.
Use these for cards, pins, project embellishments, etc.
