Oversized
Envelope
Need a large envelope but can't
find the right size?
This easy method will
really send you!
Materials needed:
-Standard Envelope template
from Draggin' Ink™
-one sheet 11" X 17" construction paper or cardstock
-pencil
-scissors
-glue or doublestick tape
-cutting board or pad of paper for a working surface
NOTE: The example shown makes an envelope for a card that
is
6" X 9". To make sure the paper you are using is large enough, use
your card to measure: single width of the card + 1" and 2 1/4 X the height
of your card. Using your card as a standard of measurement, mark the width on
the paper at the bottom edge and the height at the sides of the paper adding
1/4" along the top and one side. Moving the template from side to side,
mark the side edges as high as the height mark you just made. Now, using the
same height measurement for the bottom part of the envelope, extend the top part
of the envelope (with the side flaps) and mark, including flaps. To make the top
flap, mark both sides of the top flap (the part that arches), determine the
center line of the envelope and mark, and then by hand connect the two sides
with the highest point being at the center. Go slowly, take your time and it
will look fine!
Score and cut out. Decorate while flat if desired. Glue or tape and seal with a
sticker or lickable glue.
