Petite Purse©

For a terrific party favor, doll purse
or a quick, easy and charming gift
enclosure, try this adorable little
purse.  It goes together in just
a few minutes and is surprisingly
sturdy!

Materials needed:

The Pleated Pouch template from Draggin' Ink
Two sheets of cardstock
pencil for tracing
scissors and X-Acto knife
cutting board
ruler
brass fastener
doublestick tape
The DualTool from Draggin' Ink

To make the body of the purse: follow the directions on the template.  OMIT the closure slits.  For easiest scoring, use a ruler and the "tail" end of the DualTool.  If decorating with a design, decorate when flat.

To make the strap: cut a piece of cardstock 8 ½" L X 1" W. Round the ends with scissors.  Score ¼" from the long edges.  At both ends at the point where the straight edge starts to become rounded, make a cut ¼" towards the center.  Lay a piece of doublestick tape down the length of the handle, even onto the tabs and fold the two scored flaps to the center.

To insert the handle: With the X-Acto blade, cut two slots on the top of the purse, 1/2" in from the edge and 1/2" wide.  Slits should go front to back, parallel with the sides of the purse. Fold the tabs just enough to get them through the holds.  When both tabs are through, press the tabs down so the doublestick tape sticks to the purse flap.

To close the purse: Close the purse tightly, pushing the front flap down as far as you can.  Again with the X-Acto blade, cut a slit about 1/4" long about 3/4" above the flap point.  Take a brass fastener and bend both legs in the same direction.  Slip the brass fastener in the slit and push it in until the legs catch inside.
