Picture-Perfect

Octahedron©

As an easy multi-frame gift for the office,  this 3-D geometric shape for, it's sure to be a hit!

Materials needed:

Pyramid template from Draggin' Ink
Two pieces of heavy cardstock, 8 1/2" X 11"
One piece of 3 mil. Clear acetate, 8 1/2 X 11"
Scissors and X-Acto knife
Pencil
Ruler
Dual tool by Draggin' Ink
Cutting board
Doublestick tape or glue
Personal photos
Rubber stamps

For the basic pieces: follow the directions on the template. Make one piece with the template face up and the other with the template face down. Cut and score. If decorating with rubber stamps or some other way, do it now.

To make the "Picture windows": Mark and cut out the triangles 1/2" away from the edges on as many as seven (7) sides. Use the eighth facet to act as the bottom. Cut as many acetate triangles (4 1/4" X 4 1/4" X 4 1/4") as desired. Using the acetate triangles as a pattern, place them over your pictures, adjusting them so the best part of the picture shows through. Trim the pictures. Using doublestick tape or glue, mount the picture to the acetate and then the picture/acetate combo to the inside of the cardstock frame.

To put the two halves together: On each of the tabs, at the fold line, cut the tab approx 1/8" to 1/4" towards the center of the tab. As you match the tabs with the slots, ease them in, making any adjustments, if needed. Tape down as many tabs as possible to stabilize the Octahedron. Close up the last side (which should be your "Blank" side) and squeeze a bit of glue into the tab/slot combo to stabilize the closure.

Enjoy!
