Shiny Star
For a terrific holiday decoration to top the tree, hang from the ceiling or as a table decoration, this bright star will surely catch the eye!Materials needed: My Stars!© Template kitfour pieces of sticky back paper or plain paper tin foil or Mylar brayer (optional) pencil scissors and X-acto knife double stick tape dual tool and ruler FireLight Glitter white glue (and possibly rubber cement) two feet decorative cording (optional)
Prepare the foil paper as follows: use enough foil or Mylar to cover the sticky back paper. Apply the sticky back paper carefully to foil or Mylar. Alternative Method: Coat the back of plain paper with rubber cement and lay the foil down, brayering the foiled paper flat. Using a brayer or your thumb start at one edge and work your way to the other edge of the paper smoothing the paper along the way. Repeat with all pieces of sticky back paper. Follow the directions in the kit's booklet. For extra sparkle, lay a thin bead of glue along the edges and points and sprinkle FireLight Glitter to cover the glue, tapping off the excess. For the tree-topping star: choose one "A" (four-sided) piece to be on the bottom. You have the option of using the "C" pattern piece to make the star with a flat section or simply leave it off altogether and stick the top sprig of the tree inside the star. For the hanging star: With the end of the scissors, poke a hole thru two sides of one of the four-sided points. Loop the decorative cording through and knot the ends together. If possible, pull the knot thru to the inside of the star so the knot is hidden inside. For the table decoration: Nestle the Star in juniper branches and votive candles to make your room sparkle and softly shine with holiday warmth! ( Make sure the candles are in holders so they won't set anything on fire!) © 1998 Draggin' Ink All rights reserved |
